The beaches near the Cova Tallada
If you are looking for the closest beaches to the Cova Tallada we can guess the reason for your search. You want to start your route to Cova Tallada from there, don’t you?
Well, your wish is our command and today we are going to tell you which beaches are the closest to the fantastic Cova Tallada in Jávea, a sea cave located in the north of Cabo de San Antonio.
In the area of the Cueva Tallada you will find a natural area that we consider to be a real jewel of the Costa Blanca. Although part of this cave was carved by man (centuries ago), it is still a picture that will stay in your mind forever.
It is true that the Cova Tallada itself is located in the town of Jávea, but the park, in general, is also part of the town of Dénia (Montgó Natural Park), and due to the geographical situation in which the cave is located, it is better to leave certain beaches of Dénia to get there sooner. We can say that the closest beaches to the Cova Tallada are in Dénia. In fact, it is from here that most of the Kayak excursions to the Cova Tallada depart.
Cala d'Aigua dolç is the closest beach to the Cova Tallada.
On the other hand, if the intention is to kayak or paddle from here, we warn you that as it is not sandy, but rocky and rocky, it will be somewhat more complicated, being quite hard to access with steep slopes. However, at the end of 2021 the access to the Cala de Aigua Dolç was improved to make it easier for all visitors. Note to take into account if you intend to take a kayak (not inflatable), the access to the cove for motor vehicles stops at the end of les Rotes. So think carefully in case you are carrying weight. It is not very far, in fact in 10 minutes walking you can get there. But to the question “which beach is closest to Cova Tallada?” the answer is Cala de Aigua Dolç.
The next closest beach to the Cova Tallada is Playa de les Rotes beach.
The second closest beach to the Cova Tallada is Playa de les Rotes. Compared to the Cala de Aigua Dolç, it is much more comfortable and easier to access. The beach is located in the southern part of the coast of Denia and includes several different areas such as beaches and coves. Let’s say that Playa de les Rotes is an area where you will find different beach areas called differently. The first, the Playa de la Marineta Cassiana is the only sandy part, the rest of Les Rotes already stands out for its rocky landscape and clear water. These areas would be, La Playa del Trampolí, a rocky but quite long beach. On this beach you will find a trampoline located on one of the rocks that swimmers still use today.
If we go further south (towards the Cova Tallada) we find the Punta Negra beach. This beach is about 1,400 metres long. To access it there is a pedestrian walkway.
To your left is Playa Arentes, a rocky cove that is also known as “El Final de les Rotes”. From here you’ll have superb views of the Cabo de San Antonio. There is a public car park a few metres away, so it won’t be difficult to get your kayak or paddleboard in.
And finally, further south, is La Cala de les Rotes, the second “beach” closest to the Cova Tallada. This cove is actually very hidden and its access only allows you to walk in and down some stairs. It is another naturist cove where people go to enjoy the peace and quiet and its crystal clear waters for snorkelling.
Is the Platja del Pope or Cala Tango near the Cova Tallada?
The Cala de les Rotes and the Cala del Aigua dolç are the closest beaches to the Cova Tallada. But now we want to talk about the nearest beaches from the town of Jávea. Although they are in the same town as the cave, this does not mean that they are closer to it than the two previous ones in Dénia. Even so, we are going to talk about them in case you prefer to visit them or to leave from here.
Playa del Tangó or Playa del Pope is a very old cove located under the cliffs of Cabo de San Antonio, very close to the breakwater of the Port of Jávea. In the past it was possible to bathe there and the waters are crystal clear and pleasant. But this time nature has made the cove disappear. It was around 2006 when the cove completely disappeared. Storms and landslides have made it impossible to enjoy bathing, even so, here you will find a restaurant and there are also hiking and diving routes.
On the right side of the cove, the area of Platja del Pope, there are still people who go in and enjoy the little corner that remains to throw a towel between the stones.
Leaving the port of Jávea to get to the Cova Tallada
As we have already mentioned, Platja del Pope and Cala Tangó are very close to the port of Jávea, in fact they are right next to each other. So if it’s for convenience, it might be worthwhile to take the kayak from the port area. However, as we have already mentioned, the closest beach area to reach the Cova Tallada is from Dénia, being the key place to start any route to this magnificent treasure hidden in the Montgó Natural Park.
